Northern Loon Rally October 23 2011

The Northern Loon Rally is the last event in the  Rally West TSD Championship, and it is an excellent event for novice or rusty crews. It's a relatively short rally of about 400 Km, so no special preparation is required and it shouldn't be taxing on your every-day driver if you don't mind driving on gravel roads.
The Northern Loon TSD Rally 2011 is scheduled for Sunday, October 23. This year's event will challenge the competitors with lots of calculations (yippee!), periods of motion sickness, extreme stress, shouting matches across the center console, higher than usual premium gas prices and of course, the weather. Beautiful scenery will be plentiful, but the teams won't have any time to enjoy it.

Trophies will be awarded for overall position. Classes with too few entries may be combined to make the competition interesting. Competitors in unlimited cars should consider resurrecting a historic car instead, or maybe driving with one arm tied behind their back to even things up a bit.

Teams should take advantage of these odometer checks:

  • 91 Street northbound at 23rd ave, sign posts on right (2880 m)
  • HWY 16 A around Winterburn, (5000 m)

First time TSD rallyists should practice calculations before the route books are handed out! If you need a sample route book, Email the rallymaster.
If you are a novice and you want to read a bit about how TSD rally works, please check out the BC Classic Rally site or TSD Road Rally. A brief novice orientation will be conducted at the October club meeting so get there early. Remember, this is a TSD rally, not a race!
